Nike Introduces the Air Max Plus Drift

The Air Max Plus (aka Nike Tn) is having a bit of a moment currently. Recent collabs with A-Cold-Wall* and Patta have been stellar, plus the “25th Anniversary” edition is pretty neat too. Nike is now introducing an update to the Air Max Plus called the Air Max Plus Drift, bringing a fresh spin on the Tuned Air classic.

The OG Air Max Plus, first introduced in 1998, is known for its wavy lines across the upper, which were inspired by palm trees blowing in the wind according to the shoe’s designer, industry veteran Sean McDowell. The Air Max Plus Drift takes these wavy lines and makes them bigger and bolder. Layered atop the mesh upper is a molded overlay with curvy cutouts, some featuring a shape similar to water droplets. Meanwhile, the tooling on the Air Max Plus Drift remains relatively unchanged, as the Tuned Air bubbles make their return in their usual configuration.

The Air Max Plus Drift makes its debut in a “Phantom” colorway, featuring a gradient mesh upper that shifts from brown to white to blue as you move from the toe to the heel. The TPU overlay comes in a cream color with brown trim, and underfoot lies a white midsole with a gum buttom. The gum outsole also serves as a toe bumper, plus it wraps around the whale tail-shaped shank on the midfoot.

The Nike Air Max Plus Drift “Phantom” is expected to drop on February 15th via Nike.com and select retailers. Grab an early look below.
