Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low “Ruby Red Slipper” Limited to 85 Pairs
Original Story (01/23/25): When the Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low released back in December, there was a ton of speculation as to why the shoes came packaged in a bling bag. At the time, we chalked it up as a simple reference to Dorothy’s line from the film, “I don’t think there’s anything in that black bag for me.”
However, there’s another big reason why the shoe comes with blind bag packaging. Mixed in with the standard pairs is an extremely rare “Ruby Red Slipper” colorway. These feature all-red uppers covered in sequins, made to sparkle like Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in the film. Other features include a light blue satin sockliner, matching the color of Dorothy’s dress, and flame detailing on the toe boxes, inspired by the sparks that fly off of Dorothy’s slippers when the Wicked Witch of the West tries to touch them. The shoes also come with two different graphic insoles, one that reads “Surrender Dorothy” and another featuring the scene where the Wicked Witch of the East is crushed by a house while wearing the ruby red slippers.
This “Ruby Red Slipper” version was not included among the initial stock of Wizard of Oz Dunks that dropped at skate shops and on SNKRS back in December. Instead, these pairs were quietly added to recent restock shipments that are just now hitting skate shops, a month after the original release. This unique release method ensured that skate shop regulars were the first to discover the rare colorway.

Update (03/08/25): A recent CT scan at a StockX Verification Center revealed a numbering tag nested inside the tongue of the “Ruby Red Slipper” Dunks, which isn’t visible to the naked eye. It appears these were limited to just 85 pairs, nodding to the 85th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz as well as the birth year of the Dunk, 1985.
