Nike Is Dropping a New Dunk Low “Tokyo” City Edition
Originally released in 2004, the “Tokyo” Nike SB Dunk Low is one of those rare and highly-coveted sneakers you only really see in pictures on archive social media pages and old blog posts. Just 202 monochrome white canvas pairs were sold via lottery as part of a City Series that included other legendary colorways such as the “London,” “Paris,” and Staple’s “NYC Pigeon.”
As part of the Dunk’s 40th anniversary in 2025, Nike is now dropping a new non-SB “Tokyo” Dunk Low that pays homage to the 21-year-old SB classic. Like the SB, this Dunk features an all-white upper, a nod to the clean and understated aesthetic often associated with Japanese design.
However, while the 2004 SB Dunk went with a full “less is more” approach, the 2025 “Tokyo” Dunk Low is going all out with its premium materials. In the teaser image shared by atmos Creative Director Hirofumi Kojima, we see ostrich leather overlays paired with faux fur Swooshes on the side panels. The heel tabs are constructed from canvas, nodding back to the SB Dunk’s original build, while underfoot is the same white midsole and gum rubber outsole.
Look for the 2025 Nike Dunk Low “Tokyo” City Edition to arrive later this year exclusively at Japanese retailers such as atmos. Grab a sneak peek below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
